Ramadan 2026

Azzahra international foundation in Montreal organized a special Ramadan Iftar gathering on Sunday evening, March 15, at Azzahra Hall. The event was attended by a group of political, diplomatic, and community figures, along with representatives of the Islamic community, in an atmosphere filled with warmth, diversity, and unity.
Among the distinguished guests were Ms. Rezan Youssef Mohammed Saleh, the new Consul General of the Republic of Iraq, accompanied by a delegation from the Consulate; Federal MPs Mr. Fayçal El-Khoury and Mr. Abdelhaq Sari; Mr. Amir Khadir, founder of Québec Solidaire; Ms. Christine Black, Mayor of Montreal North; Mr. Youssef Hariri, city council member; Mr. Ali Faour, President of the Al-Risala Association; i, and Hakimi organisation,and representative of the Islamic Center Mr. Youssef al-Subait and number of prominent figures from the Lebanese, Iranian, Iraqi, and Maghrebi communities were also present.
The gathering was held at the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed Nadim Alaie, President of the foundation. The event began with welcoming remarks by Mr. Ali Altaie, the foundation’s director, who thanked the attendees for accepting the invitation. He stated, “The holy month of Ramadan teaches us that fasting is not merely abstaining from food and drink, but a lesson in feeling the suffering of the oppressed and bearing responsibility toward the vulnerable—by extending to them the hand of prayer, assistance, and support.”
Several guests delivered short speeches, including MP Fayçal El-Khoury, who praised the foundation’s role in serving the community. He was followed by MP Abdelhaq Sari, Mayor Christine Black, Consul General Rezan Mohammed Saleh, Mr. Amir Khadir, and writer and community figure Mr. Baheij Salameh, all of whom expressed appreciation for the foundation’s work and its human values of unity and service.
The Ramadan Iftar served as an opportunity to strengthen values of communication, coexistence, and solidarity among Montreal’s diverse communities and to exchange greetings on the occasion of the holy month. Attendees extended their best wishes to Ms. Rezan Youssef Mohammed Saleh in her new diplomatic role, while she, in turn, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Al-Zahra Foundation for the invitation and her happiness at participating in a gathering that embodies the spirit of diversity and togetherness that distinguishes the city of Montreal. She wished that this blessed month would bring peace and greater unity to the community.
